Deep Hall

Once a week the college pub, Deep Hall, hosts a time for students to share their talents. Most read a creative piece they've written...but Matt and I sang. That's right Mom...I did it willingly. Since the Lincoln/Oxford madrigals never materialized, Matt a fellow Bread Loaf student (who sang for St. Olaf) asked if I wanted to sing a duet with him in Deep Hall. Three weeks ago I agreed and the day before our 'performance' we practiced. Earlier we decided on Simon and Garfunkel's "Cecelia", after realizing our voices blended well together, he asked if I knew "In the Sweet By and By", a gospel song he'd sung before. I didn't...but scribbled down the words. Of the two we sang, the later sounded pretty good and received the most compliments. We were asked to sing at graduation, but Matt and his wife left early and there was NO WAY I was singing alone.

Tuan read parts of his travel journal that he began while teaching in Switzerland.

Maura, one of my French Revolution classmates, read an excerpt from her novel.

Augustan, our resident Benedictine monk, enjoys the performances.
