The romance of Europe was quickly replaced by reality...I returned only to enjoy a car that wouldn't start, a computer that wouldn't turn on, a classroom in complete disarray and a surgery date.
Let's start at the very beginning (a very good place to start)...
1. The Car: Apparently my trusty Accord didn't start for Parker or Katie while I was gone, so it enjoyed the cool parking spot for two months. I think it knew that starting meant sitting in the hot California sun and flat out refused to move. After receiving a jump (actually TWO) from Amy, I made it to the mechanic's who informed me I had a faulty battery wire and replaced it for FREE on warranty. Finally, a warranty pulled through.
2. The Computer: It worked...it worked hard...it worked well for two whole months and two new countries. Then, on the plane ride home it just didn't start. I'm waiting for a new AC adapter (although I highly doubt that will fix it).
3. The Classroom: Ahhh. Now, this is more of a challenge. I could deal with walking around the Hollywood Riviera or bumming a ride off a friend, I could even deal with no internet for a bit...but they who shall not be named...THEY who thankfully cleaned the classroom carpets felt the need to move everything in the room, disconnect every cable and cord from anything and pile it up in the middle of the room. Boo.
4. The K-nees: Yep. No one is surprised, and if you are, you shouldn't be. Thursday morning I head in for bilateral knee surgery. This means that both knees are getting scoped. Hopefully, they'll find nothing more than irritating scar tissue and small meniscus tears which are easy to remedy. Remember my unfortunate soccer injury in the spring? Well, it worsened while walking over Oxford cobblestones and climbing French stairs. So, I'll hopefully be in and out...I'll keep you posted.

Now...this is only the down side of my return. The wonderful reuniting with family and friends deserves a separate post...of which I will do soon. :)
