My sister-in-law (not Deborah, my brother's wife, but Deborah's sister, Rebecca) married Joe Ortiz on September 15 at The Beach Grill at Padero...yes, just hours after Katie and Matt wed. Taylor and I drove up to the Santa Barbara wedding in fairly light traffic and changed in the Montecito Coffee Bean to make the 5 o'clock ceremony.
After walking down the isle with his older brother and younger sister, Jackson sat with me. We took off his jacket, adjusted his bow tie, unpinned the boutonnière and discussed the meaning of a flower on a jacket, drew on a program, took apart the pen, and watched Aunt Becka and new-Uncle Joe get married.
Becka's wedding was lovely, their large bridal party stood in support of the couple as they said their vows and took communion...the Union Pacific train shuttled by, a surprise that will be a Ortiz wedding memory.
Ben DJ-ed the wedding from his iPod and it was fun to watch him and Parker sing to the tunes. It was great to spend time with friends and family...eat wonderful food and dance under the stars.
